On the Horizon

The County budget is smaller for the third year in a row, but new things are still happening.

Wake and Mecklenburg counties, and the state of North Carolina, began an 18-month program to bring together community leaders to learn about and define a response to cyber security. The program consists of awareness training, technical training and a series of exercises developed to test the community's response to computer and data terror attacks.

The Richard B. Harrison Library in central Raleigh is getting a facelift that includes mechanical systems, shelving and furnishings.

WakeTech started construction of Building E, the fourth classroom building on the Northern Wake Campus. Funded by bonds approved by voters in 2007, the project is expected to be complete in January 2012.
